First day in a while I’ve had a chance to stay at home and relax so thought I’d look through some old photos. Here’s a load from New York when I visited for four days with my Mum and Sister. Really loved it and could happily spend days wandering the street photographing anything and everything. Hopefully I’ll get another chance to visit at some point.
This photo is one of those rare moments when the ‘decisive moment’ (as Cartier-Bresson puts it) occurs unexpectedly just as you’ve composed the frame.
I know everyone gets this sort of photo of Times Square at night but the colours really are incredible and the constant noise and bustle of traffic strangely comforting.
Another common photo – I took this from atop the Rockefeller Centre – if you zoom in you can see individual people down below… and this was taken with a cheapo Canon EOS 400d.
This is from the Museum of Modern Art. It’s an amazing place with fascinating exhibits (especially their photography!) and I was surprised that they were happy for me to snap away the whole time. Clearly the British mindset that all photography in invasive and offensive has not settled over there in the same way.
